Short: abp - a banking program Author: malbry@ms.com (Malcolm Bryant) Uploader: psion-adm@nic.funet.fi Type: s5/apps/finan Read me file for abp - a banking program Freeware (c) Malcolm Bryant 1997 Email malbry@ms.com or pilita@enterprise.net Instructions for setting up abp version 2.00 ============================================ The file ABP200.ZIP should contain the following files: 1. abp.app (application) 2. abp.aif (information file) 3. abp.hlp (help file) 4. efm.mbm (Epoc Freeware Movement logo) 5. changes.txt (recent changes to abp) 6. hints.txt (useful hints for version 2.00) 7. sample.qif (an example export file from MS Money) 8. sample.txt (instructions for sample.qif) 9. readme.txt (this file) 10. abp1to2.opo (program to convert data file to version 2.xx format, see below) The first 4 files should be installed in the following directory on the Series 5: c:\system\apps\abp\ You will need to create this directory before copying the files from your PC (if necessary first select "Show system folder" in the Tools/Preferences menu). You should also create a directory c:\abp which is the default location for abp data files. Don't copy any of the above files into this directory - abp will automatically place your data file there once you run the program. Once you have copied the above files into the right directory, you will see a new icon (called ABP2) in the Extras section. Although you can run abp from the d: drive (by changing c: to d: above), I recommend that you keep your data files on the c: drive whenever possible. This is because the abp writes to disk frequently - good for the security of your data, but slow on a flash disk. Holding your data files on the c: drive will result in better response time. For features of abp and instructions, please take a few minutes to read the help file (press CTRL+SHIFT+H from within abp) Note for upgraders from abp version 1.xx to version 2.xx ======================================================== abp version 2.00 contains many new features. Unfortunately, I have had to modify the abp data file format and included in the zip file is a program abp1to2.opo which will update your existing data file to the new format. As a safeguard, the program will ask you for a new filename, so that your original data is left intact. To use this program, copy it into any convenient directory on your Psion (it does not have to be in the same directory as specified for the main abp program above). Then run the program and follow the onscreen instructions - it's easy! Once the conversion is done, you should select the new version of abp from the Extras bar, or alternatively select the name of your updated data file from the System screen. Enjoy abp - the freeware banking program! Let me know if you like it. Malcolm
