Hi, I'm pretty new to the kite netnews started from May I guess. I saw a lot of information and valuable reviews on MEFM the past month. Finally, I've decided to buy one for myself from BFK in L.A. In deed, MEFM is a nice flying machine. I'm very happy since I bought it. I watch the tree top from my office everyday to see if there comes some good wind. But, most of the time I was disappointed. So, I drove two hours to Lake Erie. That was the best experience I've ever had. Stable gentle wind! The only problem is kind of too far from Pittsburgh. I believe there must have some good places in Pittsburgh area to fly kites. Could anybody tell me if there's really a kiter club in Pittsburgh? Do they have regular gathering schedule? Where do they usually go? The information would be very precious to me. Thanks in advance for the help. We drive 2 and 1/2 hrs every week-end to get to the coast of Washington State, because where we live, there is hardly ever enough wind to fly. But it sure is worth it. It's always blowing on the coast and it's even cooler too. Tho I wouldn't say 80 or 85 is hot. We've only been flying since last summer, but we already own 19 kites: 1 Hawaiian, 1 Wasp, 2 Intrepids, 1 Spin Off, 3 Arubas, 1 Maxima, 1 Thunder Wing, 1 Hawk, 1 Trixter, 1 Stranger, 1 Stack of 10 home-mades, 1 quad, 2 Shields, 1 Doulbe French Military, 1 Home-made Catherine Wheel, and a 8 ft banner that we fly off the CB antenna on our bright red Jeep Renegade. I guess you say we went Kite Crazy!!!
