You need Winamp 1.6 or later to use the plugin. You may be able to run other MP3 players that are capable of using Winamp plugins. The Warp plugin REQUIRES a 3D accelerator card such as a Voodoo2, Matrox G400, Riva TNT, etc. You also need DirectX 6 or later.
If you are reading this you must have already unzipped the archive to a directory. If you unzipped using paths, you will have a \help directory (which you are reading now) and a \plugins directory. Simply copy all the files in the \plugins directory to your Winamp \plugins directory. When you run Winamp it will list warp.dll in the plugins list. You can view the plugins list by hitting CTRL-K.
Select warp.dll and click on the configuration button to
display the following options. You can also bring up the configuration dialog by
pressing ALT-K when running Winamp. Do not attempt to configure the plugin while it
is running. This will cause a conflict with itself.
There is a combo box to select the Direct3D device.
Only 3D acceleration through the Direct3D HAL driver is supported. If you have more
than one 3D card connected you can choose which one you want to use. If you are
using the primary device, you can also check the "Run In a Window" checkbox.
Secondary 3D cards such as Voodoo and Voodoo2 cards cannot run in a window and will cause
and error if you have this option checked.
Configuration Options:
Run in a Window: If this option is
checked the plugin will use run in a window on your desktop. Not all 3D cards
support this option. Some video cards may not have enough memory to create a large
window when running in 32 bit color mode.
32 Bit Color: If this option is checked the plugin will use 32 bit color rendering. This is not supported by all cards any will fail if it only supports 16 bit color. Using 32 bit color gives you much smoother looking motion blur. You should make sure the bit depth of the plugin matches your desktop bit depth if you are running in a window. You must have your desktop set to use 16 or 32 bit color.
Motion Blur: Motion blurring is used to fade the image out slowly. The default value is 50. Lower values will give more motion blurring and take longer for the image to fade away.
Bar Decrement: This controls how quickly the VU bars decrease in size. The default value is 10. Higher values will end up drawing fewer bars and will improve performance.
Camera Direction: There are 3 parameters which control how the camera moves. You can put negative values to make it rotate the other direction.
Enable/Disable Options: Several options are available to disable or enable, such as turning off the song title, removing the stars, or making them move in reverse.
The normal keys for Winamp now work while the plugin is active. You can hit them to pause, fast forward, or switch to other MP3's in the play list. Pressing Escape will exit the plugin. When running the plugin in full screen mode, remember that you still have other windows open on the desktop. Hitting the mouse buttons and other keys may cause the Warp plugin to lose focus and you will not be able to exit the plugin.
